چکیده

S ALINE AGGLUTINATION REACTIONS of variable strength among Rh positive bloods were reported soon after the discovery of the Rh factor.”2 Wieners suggested that these D variant types were determined by special “intermediate” Rh genes and Stratton2 postulated that this weak D antigen was elaborated by a new allele, D’, at the D-d locus. The only blood types which could he classified as DL variants, prior to the development of the antiglobulin test, were those that showed weak to negative reactions with a substantial number of saline anti-D agglutinating sera. With the development of the antiglobulin technic, D” varieties were recognized, which failed to agglutinate in all saline serums hut which would do so when tested with an incomplete antiserum by the antiglobulin technic.4’5 These second varieties of Du were termed “low grade” in contrast to the first or “high grade” ‘arieties#{176} Renton and Hancock7’M’#{176} showed that less incomplete anti-D is needed to inhibit the saline agglutination of D” cells as compared with conventional D positive cells. They attribtmted this phenomenon to a decreased “strength” of the surface antigen. It appears that the context in which they used “strength”

STUDIES ON BLOOD FACTORS RhA, RhB, AND RhC

Observations are described of the incidence among Caucasians and Negroes of the blood factors Rh(A), Rh(B) and Rh(C) which occur associated with the Rh(0) factor in typical Rh-positive blood. The antiserums used for the tests were derived from Rh-positive patients who had had hemolytic transfusion reactions or erythroblastotic babies. Among a large series of individuals, it was found that only ...

Blood group incompatibility due to anti C antibody: a case report

Background and Aim: One of the main goals of blood transfusion medicine is to determine the compatibility of the blood products with the patients. Therefore, clinical and laboratory (serologic) evaluations should be done to determine the maximum compatibility (or minimum incompatibility). The most known blood groups is the ABO antigenic system and the most important of them is Rh system. Among ...

Serologic specificity of hun anti-IgA and its significance in transfusion.

By G. N. VYAS, L. HOLMDAHL, H. A. PERKINS AND H. H. FUDENBERG H UMAN ANTIBODIES to human gamma globulins are generally detected by agglutination of red cells coated with IgG, most often in the form of incomplete anti-Rh antiserum;’ normal and myeloma IgG proteins coated by bisdiazotized benzidine and chrornic chloride have also been used.2” These passive hernagglutination methods are applied to...
